Diamond Painting : a creative activity to discover

💡Psst… a tutorial is available right here.

Based on the same concept as mosaics or paint-by-number activities, diamond painting is a creative hobby that involves placing tiny colored "diamonds" on a printed image to create a mosaic painting.

Diamond painting offers a relaxing and meditative experience, as well as the satisfaction of creating a true work of art. Indeed, all the kits offered on Oraloa are officially licensed with our various artists.

This kit allows you to create a canvas with enchanting colors. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation with this simple and fun activity that frees the mind.

Note:

Diamond painting is an unfinished product, it is a DIY activity to be done alone, with friends, or family, by sticking small "diamonds" on a canvas, the final result will be just extraordinary.

What does your kit contain?

Each kit comes with everything you need to get started!

About the artist

Adrian Chesterman

Adrian Chesterman studied fine arts at the Norwich School of Art and the illustration at the Royal College of Art in Kensington, London. Since he left the R.C.A., Chesterman has worked in almost all the spheres of the art world.

As an illustrator, he worked for almost everyone, on almost everything, almost everywhere. The advertising illustrations of "Jurassic Park" for Stephen Spielberg in Los Angeles, the sets of "Sunset Boulevard" for Andrew Lloyd-Weber in Frankfurt. Among the advertising orders, let us quote "Coca Cola" in Atlanta, "Southern Sun Hotels" at the CAP and video game illustrations for "Nintendo" in Chicago. Conceptions and visualizations for original themed parks with the United Arab Emirates and China, "Spiderman" games for MGA in Los Angeles and, in the past ten years, the Rolls Royce aeronautical motors division in London has asked him to illustrate almost 50 pages for the magazine "Flight".

Among his recent projects, let us quote the creation of the gigantic illustration of the largest puzzle in the world, commanded by Educa Boras in Barcelona. Incredible size of 33,600 pieces and measuring 2 meters by 6, it represents a scene from the jungle full of details. We have also made a series of covers for the series of pocket books "Armchair Reader" published by Publications International in Illinois, as well as the 21 covers of "Famous Five", the classic series of Enid Blighton. Saatchi & Saatchi's in Sidney has just ordered a series of illustrations by Toyota Landcruiser for the Sidney 2015 and Seaworld car show in the United States has just ordered a "Turtle World" theme park in San Diego.

Chesterman also illustrated books of books for Jackie Collins, Jack Higgins and Dick Francis, many children's books on dinosaurs and an illustrated encyclopedia for children. He illustrated countless music album covers, including "Bomber" for Motorhead, "The Meaning of Life" for the Monty Python team and "The Road to Hell" for Chris Rea. He also illustrated an animated clip for "Baby's Coming Back" of the Eurythmics and even built and painted a real guitar in the shape of a skull for the new romantic group "Adam and the Ants".

The portrait is another of Chesterman's artistic directions. Among the previous commissioners were Prince Adan Czartoryski-Bourbon, King Juan Carlos of Spain, Mikael Barshnikov, the Ballet dancer, a certain captain of the Welsh Guard, some Hollywood actors, countless children, cats, dogs and a horse called George. Oh ... and a naked portrait of "wolf", the "gladiator" of television, which has finished, in one way or another, on page 5 of a national daily life, but the less we say, the better it is!

Chesterman had his first exhibition of paintings at Liberty's in Regent Street when he was still at the Royal College of Art. He then exhibited at the Center Pompidou in Paris and the Gallerie Schemes in Lille, France, at the International Contemporary Art Fair in Olympia, Spinks, Kensington Town Hall and BBC Center in London, at the Batey gallery in Singapore, at the Madison gallery in Los Angeles and in many countries in Spain. He participated in The Riverside Show, 01 for London, Artwork and other artistic programs in the United Kingdom, as well as television shows in Spain.

What is the difference between Pixel Hobby and Diamond Painting?

Although both activities are based on pixel art, Pixel Hobby uses matte plastic pixels that snap into place without glue on a pegboard, while Diamond Painting uses shiny rhinestones that are glued onto an adhesive canvas.

Pixel Hobby produces a smoother and more uniform finish, similar to a digital illustration, while Diamond Painting offers a sparkling, textured effect with more visual depth.

What does my Diamond Painting kit include?

When you order a Diamond Painting kit, you receive everything you need to start your artwork right away.

Each kit includes a high-quality printed canvas, coated with poured glue to ensure excellent adhesion of the diamonds.

All the diamonds required to complete the design are included, sorted by color and provided in sufficient quantity.

Round or square drills?

Round or square drills — each offers a unique style and finish.

Both types of diamonds serve the same purpose in diamond painting: bringing your artwork to life with sparkle and vibrancy. However, their shape and placement technique result in slightly different experiences.

Round diamonds are especially popular with beginners because they are easier and faster to place. Their rounded edges allow for a more forgiving application, though small gaps may remain between them, sometimes revealing the background canvas.

Square diamonds require precise alignment to fit perfectly together. This demands more attention to detail, but the final look is cleaner and more uniform, with no visible gaps — creating a finish that resembles a pixelated printed image.

If you choose round diamonds, don’t worry: our canvases are specially designed with coordinated background colors, which help minimize visibility between drills and preserve the brilliance of your artwork.
