Gerald Newton

Gerald's passion for drawing and painting began in childhood.

After leaving school, he attended the North Cheshire School of Art and Design in England, where he studied drawing from life, general art, ceramics and photography. After finishing his studies, he served an apprenticeship in printing and, although he gained experience, he decided it was not quite the right career for him. After a few years working freelance as an artist, he decided to return to full-time study and enrolled at the University of Plymouth in Devon, England, where he studied graphic design. He then studied illustration at Falmouth University in Cornwall, England.

During his studies, he won a competition designing wine labels and created his very first record cover. After graduating with honors, he set up as a full-time freelance artist. His first job was producing monthly cover illustrations for a magazine. He went on to produce a wide variety of illustrations for book and magazine publishers. He works alongside writers and poets. He has created record covers for record labels and musicians. He has worked for marketing companies, conservation organizations and tourist attractions, among others. In recent years, he has supplied puzzle and game companies with his colorful, detailed and imaginative art.
