Misstigri
Valérie Moigne aka Misstigri is an independent artist based in Nantes where she also runs a small boutique.
After a Bac F12 applied arts and a BTS in Interior Architecture, she will continue on a long cycle at the Beaux-Arts in design options. Despite an attempt at architecture, her passion for images took over and pushed her to set up as an independent graphic designer in 2000. This work being directed by the constraints of clients, she sought an escape by starting to paint, and will give birth to female characters who will become her trademark "Les Misstinguettes".
Today, as a graphic designer, illustrator and painter, she draws her inspiration from painting with influences like Klimt, Mucha, Shiele or Pignon Ernest, as well as in comics via Bilal, Manara, Dautremer, or even fashion (Lacroix, Gaultier or Miyaké,…) and animated cinema (Burton, Miyazaki,…).
Her technique first begins with the development of a sketch which she then reproduces on the scale of the canvas. Like a school teacher, she constructs the main lines of the drawing with chalk. She fine-tunes, evens out then erases from the back of her blouse everything that interferes with readability... The base is in place.
The skin, the clothes, the hair then the rough shadows in acrylic. Precise shadows, volumes and very bold pastel shadows. A little touch of precision for the posca (gouache marker) and 3D paint (tulip) finishes. If the young lady who comes to life asks her to, she adorns her attire with feathers, lace or ribbons...
She has today acquired great notoriety and is considered a reference in its own right by many...
