Rachel Blackwell

As a child, Rachel Blackwell often spent her time sitting in the willow tree at the bottom of the garden, dreaming, painting or drawing. This passion stayed with her into adulthood, through several different careers, until the day she chose to follow her heart and study Fine Art at university to become a full-time artist, muralist and illustrator.

Her paintings are inspired by the wild corners of her native region in the English countryside, and they are often born during her walks in the woods, her kayaking trips or her moments of meditation out in nature. In Rachel's imagination, these landscapes are home not only to woodland animals, but also to mythical creatures, fairies, goddesses and nature spirits.

Rachel uses both traditional painting techniques and digital tools to capture this enchanted world, a place of gentleness and wonder in a world that can sometimes be harsh.
