Michael David Ward is a Japanese-American artist and writer from the high-tech industry. An accomplished artist in multiple genres, he is also a graphic and industrial designer. In addition to his artistic activities, Michael is a science fiction and fantasy writer.
He has created numerous commemorative images for Paramount Studios, Lucas Arts, and New Line Cinema on iconic franchises such as Star Trek, Star Wars, and Lost in Space. His works and character designs have been licensed by many companies for various products. His work has also been published in numerous magazines, including Heavy Metal Magazine, and illustrated book covers. His original paintings and limited edition prints are collected worldwide and have been widely exhibited in galleries and exhibitions in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
His works are part of the collections of personalities such as Gene Roddenberry, George Lucas, Jeff Bezos, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, Jonathan Frakes, as well as many other actors and companies. Michael was also selected as a featured artist in a series of exhibitions titled Marine Art Expos, in partnership with the Cousteau Society, which took place in Monterey, California, and Maui, Hawaii.
Some of his works have been spotted in television shows such as 3rd Rock from the Sun, Star Trek 25th Anniversary Special, the documentary Trekkies, and have even been featured in the Star Tours attraction at Disneyland. His work has also caught the attention of 20th Century Fox and MGM Animations, where some of his creations have been optioned as entertainment properties.
