I come from south-central Kentucky, in the United States. I would never have had the opportunity to sell my work to art collectors in Australia, New Zealand, France, Spain, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan and other U.S. states if I had not had exposure on the Internet.
I received my first formal art training at Western Kentucky University, where I earned a degree in education and fine arts, with a double major in painting and drawing. I received art training of another kind during my graduate studies at Case Western University in Cleveland, OH, where I studied medical illustration.
At present, I devote most of my studio time to three different series of paintings. The first, Ode to the Deco Cottage, is inspired by the fantastic Art Deco pottery of British designer Clarice Cliff. These paintings are done in acrylic on canvas and feature whimsical, brightly colored landscapes. The second series is called Moorcroft Musings and is inspired by Arts and Crafts era painting and the early glazes of Moorcroft pottery. The third series, called Storybook Cottage Series, is done in watercolor and inspired by vintage storybooks and greeting cards. It depicts small red-roofed cottages that symbolize house and home and offer a peaceful respite from the outside world.
