About the artist

Alida Akers is from Kentucky Center-South in the United States. She would never have had the opportunity to sell her works to art collectors in Australia, New Zealand, France, Spain, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan and other States of the United States if it had not been exposed on the Internet.
I received my first formal artistic training at Western Kentucky University, where I graduated in education and fine arts, with a double specialization in painting and drawing. I received an artistic training from another type during my higher education in the Western University box in Cleveland, OH, where I studied medical illustration.
Currently, I devote most of my time to the studio to three series of different paintings. The first, Ode to the Deco Cottage, is inspired by the Fantastic Art Deco pottery of the British designer Clarice Cliff. These paintings are made with acrylic on canvas and have fanciful landscapes in bright colors. The second series is called Moorcroft Musings and is inspired by the painting of the Arts and Crafts era and the first enamels of Moorcroft pottery. The third series, entitled Storybook Cottage Series, is made in watercolor and is inspired by stories and vintage greeting cards. It represents small cottages with a red roof which symbolize the house and the home and offer a peaceful respite in the outside world.

What is the difference between Pixel Hobby and Diamond Painting?

Although both activities are based on pixel art, Pixel Hobby uses matte plastic pixels that snap into place without glue on a pegboard, while Diamond Painting uses shiny rhinestones that are glued onto an adhesive canvas.

Pixel Hobby produces a smoother and more uniform finish, similar to a digital illustration, while Diamond Painting offers a sparkling, textured effect with more visual depth.

What does my Diamond Painting kit include?

Round or square drills?

Round or square drills — each offers a unique style and finish.

Both types of diamonds serve the same purpose in diamond painting: bringing your artwork to life with sparkle and vibrancy. However, their shape and placement technique result in slightly different experiences.

Round diamonds are especially popular with beginners because they are easier and faster to place. Their rounded edges allow for a more forgiving application, though small gaps may remain between them, sometimes revealing the background canvas.

Square diamonds require precise alignment to fit perfectly together. This demands more attention to detail, but the final look is cleaner and more uniform, with no visible gaps — creating a finish that resembles a pixelated printed image.
