Dean Russo Art – “Art that loves you back”
Art and animals. These two passions define Dean, a Brooklyn, New York–based artist who uses vibrant Pop Art colors and bold abstract patterns to give a voice to his favorite subject: animals. Dean grew up in a house full of art supplies, and from a very young age he began drawing cartoon characters, which would later become a major source of inspiration in his work. After studying graphic design and fine art at the School of Visual Arts and the Pratt Institute, Dean started out painting mostly celebrity portraits, but it was his two Cocker Spaniels that became his greatest inspiration.
“They would sit at my feet every night, so one day I decided to paint them.”
Dean starts his paintings with the eyes because, as every animal lover knows, the eyes are the most expressive part. Dean's main subjects are dogs, with pit bulls making up the majority of his work.
“Pit bulls are a misunderstood breed, and I'm just happy to be able to spread a message in support of animal rescue.”
The Dean Russo Art studio is sincerely committed to the cause of animal rescue and takes part in charity auctions, donations and fundraising events to raise public awareness and support the animal welfare community. Dean hopes to convey the love and devotion of animal lovers of all kinds, from dogs and cats to horses and much more. He is currently working on a wildlife series to support the countless species threatened with extinction.
With inspiring messages and works bursting with color, Dean Russo's art is sure to brighten anyone's day.
