At Oraloa, creativity, gentleness and art therapy are at the center of our universe. But behind the colors, behind the kits, behind each creation... there is a deeply personal story, a story that has transformed us:
that of Down syndrome.
The arrival of a child carrying the extra chromosome into our family has changed our lives in the most beautiful way possible.
She taught us patience, resilience, unconditional love and above all… the power of a smile.
This little luminous being, with his unique joy, his innocence and his incredible strength, gave birth in us to the desire to do more. To help. To raise awareness. To support. To create hope.
This is how The 21st Smile was born, an association that we entirely created, supported, imagined and built from the heart.
✨ Why we created The 21st Smile
We founded this association because we saw, from the inside:
- The doubts and questions that accompany families,
- The loneliness that some feel,
- Concrete needs that are sometimes difficult to meet,
- But also the extraordinary beauty, love and light that these children bring to this world.
We wanted to give voice to this magnificent difference. We wanted to support families in their journey. We wanted to change attitudes, not with speeches, but with smiles, actions and kindness.
The 21st Smile was therefore born from a real need:
That of offering more love, more support and more visibility to children with Down syndrome and their families.

To carry this message even further, we have chosen to tell these stories in a gentle, poetic and accessible way for children.
At Oraloa, we write books inspired by the “enchanted chromosome”, with several objectives:
- Celebrate difference through endearing and heroic characters.
- Offer children with Down syndrome stories in which they feel represented.
- Raise other children’s awareness of inclusion, kindness and respect.
- Accompany families by offering them support filled with love and hope.
- Building bridges between generations and sensitivities.
These books are a way for us to share what life has taught us: Every child is a light, regardless of the number of chromosomes.
