Diamond Painting: Mikki Senkarik

    Mikki Senkarik - Biography

    In cowboy hat, starched shirt, blue jeans and boots

    The tall mustached stranger walked into my booth.

    I didn’t know who the handsome man was

    But neighboring artists sure whispered and buzzed.

    He intently examined each piece of my art

    His gaze quickly moved with a dance and a dart.

    The straight figure was silent, not a word did he speak

    for what certainly felt like more than a week.

    With stern jaw and dark eyes, I didn’t expect

    The soft, gentle voice that came out next.

    “Nice Work, Ma’am”, flowed in a slow Texas drawl;

    as easy on my ears as a summer's rainfall.

    I stammered and stuttered,

    completely taken aback;

    So the big, imposing man held out his hand

    And said, “I’m Jack!”

    No clue did I have the Texas State Artist was an Angel Heaven sent,

    To straighten my life that was incredibly bent.

    I always wanted to be an artist; my mother encouraged me to draw as soon as I could hold a pencil. After earning a Fine Art Degree at the University of South Florida, I was accepted into the elite field of Medical Illustration and graduated from the Medical College of Georgia. I've illustrated 47 major medical textbooks and in 5 of the 9 years working as a Medical Illustrator my peers gave me the honorary Award of Excellence, our profession’s highest award.

    On February 4, 1990 God allowed a tall, dark, handsome stranger to walk into my world and turn it "Right Side Up". That man was Jack White. He became mentor, art teacher, best friend, biggest fan and the love of my life. He taught me to paint and gently led this shy girl from being a victim to becoming victorious over an abusive past.

    Because of Jack's knowledge, generosity, love and encouragement, the dark brambles of abuse from my childhood and first marriage have been transformed into a joyous garden. Ed Marhanka, one of my very first collectors, dubbed my paintings "BILLBOARDS OF HAPPINESS". Zest for living dances from my brush onto the canvas, my mind whirls with ideas waiting to land in a painting.

    "Why do I paint?"

    I want to make a world where colors come alive, flowers burst with exuberance and the landscape bubbles with excitement. I want my joy to jump out of the painting and grab the viewer, giving them a big, Texas Sized HUG!

    Heaven welcomed a master artist and amazing writer on July 15, 2016. Our Lord gathered my dear Jack in his arms and took him Home at the age of 83. Jack helped so many of us here on earth, I know I never would have become the person I am today without him in my life. God truly blessed me to have Jack as a partner for 26 years. We all miss this talented man, his storytelling and infectious laugh. But as incredibly hard as it was to give Jack up, I know he’s in a better place and healthy once more. Best of all, we'll be together again one day in Heaven.

    It's been a heart ripping journey but now my life is full and joyful again. My brush happily skips across the canvas once more and Our Lord is leading me down some wonderful new paths I never would have expected. I am very blessed to have many loyal and supportive collectors all over the world. Because of my TEAM SENKARIK FAMILY I'm able to make a living doing what I love, PAINT. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

    Enjoying a laugh with Jack's and my dear friends, Donell and Coach Grant Teaff, March 2018.
